Kolkata, 28th March, 2012: Gujarat NRE Coking Coal Limited (GNM or the Company), the Australian subsidiary of Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd (GNCL), is pleased to announce that it has received the Subsidence Management Plan (SMP) approval from the NSW Government, Australia, to start the longwall mining at its NRE No1 mine.
The company has been working closely with various departmental agencies to ensure that the SMP approval is received in a timely manner and on receipt of the same, the company is also actively working with the departmental agencies to ensure that all the approval conditions which include measures to protect the environment and built features are fully complied with.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Arun Kumar Jagatramka, Executive Chairman of the Company said, “The grant of approval to commence longwall production at NRE No.1 mine vindicates our commitment and belief to have the two hard coking coal mines under longwall operations before the end of March 2012. It is further significant due to the fact that the commencement of longwall production in NRE No1 mine not only ensures the future growth of the Company on a higher trajectory but also secures the permanent employment of more than 600 employees working for the Company in Illawarra."
